Sustainability at AVA: Responsibility Beyond the Product

AVA Alms combines business success with social responsibility: Learn more about our sustainability strategy, the UN Global Compact, and Mission Zero.

Sustainability is a deeply ingrained value at our family-owned company.

As an international trading company specializing in high-quality industrial valves in accordance with DIN and ASME standards, we offer our customers a comprehensive product range for a wide variety of industrial applications. Our portfolio includes DIN and ASME gate valves, globe valves, check valves, ball valves, butterfly valves and strainers in various materials, pressure classes and designs.

We combine technical expertise, quality and reliable supply with responsible business practices. For us, sustainability means taking responsibility across all dimensions: environmental, social and economic.

We are committed to long-lasting partnerships, resource-efficient processes, and energy-efficient solutions. Our mission is clear: Where quality meets sustainability, true added value is created.

Why Sustainability is important to AVA

At the AVA Group, our commitment to sustainable practices is inextricably linked to our identity as a quality supplier. We are constantly expanding our measures with an eye toward the future in order to provide our customers with the best possible support in achieving their own sustainability goals.

Our management principles form the foundation for this. They focus on customer satisfaction, health and environmental protection, occupational safety, and ethical standards:

  • Shared Responsibility: Every employee is responsible for quality, safety, and health and environmental protection.
  • Compliance with Standards: We are committed to strict compliance with all laws and regulations pertaining to environmental protection and occupational safety.
  • Durable, high-quality valves: Our products offer a long service life and can be disposed of safely and in an environmentally responsible manner at the end of their life cycle.
  • Responsible supply chain: When selecting suppliers, we consistently ensure compliance with strict environmental protection criteria.
  • Continuous improvement process: Minimizing environmental impact and the ongoing training of employees and partners are central to our management systems.

Combining Economic Success and Responsibility

Sustainability is an ongoing commitment that we, as a family-owned company, are determined to uphold. For us, economic growth and environmental performance are not mutually exclusive; they reinforce one another.
Our Code of Conduct enshrines the principle of combining social responsibility with economic success.

“We view sustainability as a commitment to meeting the needs of the present without compromising the resources and opportunities of future generations.”

Alignment with the Paris Agreement and the UN Global Compact

We are firmly committed to the goals of the Paris Agreement. Our membership in the UN Global Compact supports and encourages us to consistently implement sustainable values across all areas of our business and to engage globally. Through transparent supply chains, fair working conditions, and energy-efficient product solutions, we are gradually reducing our environmental footprint.

Mission Zero 2050 – Focus on Climate Neutrality

"Sustainability is no longer a competitive factor - it is a prerequisite for future viability. As a retailer, we see it as our responsibility to actively contribute to Mission Zero 2050 and offer our customers sustainable solutions. Weher quality meets sustainability, real progress is made."

— Frank Alms, Managing Partner of the AVA Gruppe

The Mission Zero Roadmap

Our Mission Zero Roadmap is the AVA Gruppe`s strategic phased plan to systematically reduce harmful environmental impacts to zero. To specifically avoid greenhouse gas emissions, we categorize our emissions according to the international GHG Protocol and focus on addressing all three scopes:

  • Scope 1 (Direct Emissions): Reducing emissions from our own processes.
  • Scope 2 (Indirect Energy Emissions): Sourcing 100% green energy for electricity, heating, and cooling at our locations.
  • Scope 3 (Indirect Value Chain Emissions): Reducing emissions along the upstream and downstream supply chain—from raw material procurement to logistics and waste disposal.

Mission Zero Roadmap: Our Milestones and Climate Goals

Our interim goals demonstrate that the Mission Zero Roadmap is not a distant promise, but an actively pursued process:

The year 2025 laid the foundation: In addition to joining the UN Global Compact, we published the first VSME Report, developed a comprehensive Climate Transition Plan (CTP), and immediately earned the EcoVadis Bronze medal. In 2026, we consistently expanded on these standards—as documented by the 2nd VSME Report, the UNGC Communication on Progress (CoP), and the first LkSG report on compliance with supply chain obligations. These efforts are also reflected in our achievement of EcoVadis Silver status.

For the coming decades, our reduction targets are firmly in focus: By 2030, we will reduce our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by at least 50% compared to the base year of 2024, with the ultimate goal of achieving full climate neutrality (net zero in Scope 1 and 2) by 2050 at the latest.

Shaping the Future Together

We take our responsibility seriously as a quality supplier—for reliable industrial valves, a transparent value chain, and a sustainable future
